Moomintroll

My beautiful daughter was born almost a year ago and The Moomins have been a recurring theme in our home since. We were lucky enough to be gifted a beautiful Moomin themed babybox from Finland and in the past couple of months we have been enjoying the original TV series together. As my maternity leave draws to an end, time to dust off the Wacom pen and warm up with some Moomin fan art!

I bought Clip Studio Pro in the recent Black Friday sales, first time using it… what a lovely painting program!  Still lots to learn with it, but enjoyed playing around with some basic brushes.

Mushrooms

Mushrooms

Since starting my maternity leave it has been a long while since I had time to sit down and paint anything, found a few quiet moments so to start getting back in the swing of things here are some mushrooms!

Mr. Feathers

Mr. Feathers

I have vowed to do more painting and drawing in my spare time, this is the first finished piece of that vow!  It is based on a drawing I did in April 2015, imaginatively called Dragon No.8

I have learnt that painting feathers is hard…

Save The Date

Save The DateA drawing I did last year for my husband and I’s save the date cards for our wedding.  I did all the stationary myself, this being one of my favourites!  We wanted something personal for our big day! 🙂

Lizard Man WIP

I bought a Cintiq a couple of months ago and since then life has been so hectic I have hardly got chance to use it!  Things are slowing down again now so I should be able to paint more!  Here is a work in progress of a lizard man thing.  Enjoy!

Skelos Badlands

Skelos Badlands

I absolutely adore the early Spyro the Dragon games, especially Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer.   I need to practice painting more, so I set my self a challenge of doing a paint over of an original screenshot from Spyro 2.    I wanted to create an image of how the game could look if it was recreated using current generation graphics.

The original Spyro series was created by Insomniac Games and I highly recommend everyone to play them! 😀

Wurm Colour

Wurm Colour

Finally got a colour version of Wurm done.  It was an interesting process starting with a grey scale image and worrying about the colours afterwards.  It certainly helped me try and focus on trying to get the tonal values right.

My grey scale version can be found here.

Roman Soldier

Roman Soldier

I recently played the video game Ryse.  I enjoyed it so much I had an urge to draw a little bear themed soldier 😛  I scanned my sketch in and finally got round to working on it.  I created this value painting using a Wacom Cintiq 13HD which was kindly lent to me by a friend for the weekend.  It was really interesting to use and made line work much easier.

I would like to refine this guy a little bit more in the near future.  Try and design an interesting motif for his shield and add some colour!
